The Play American Junk was first performed eight years ago, by The Rooster Theatre Collective in Cape Town in a bar in called Hectic on Hope. Taub specifically wrote the play so as to be performed as site specific in a bar. It is a strange comic tale of memory and multi-reality filled with kidnappings, beheadings, plane crashes, Hollywood, brothers and bars. Taub was keen to revive this play as part of his vision to intervene in inner city spaces as public art spaces that can produce and initiate new and alternate dramatic encounters.

The second play Euro Trash was written specifically for this project and is a poetical magically realist monologue set in a hotel room that tells of the demise of a modern European man reflecting on stock market crashes and the fall of paradise.

The two works run co-currently with Taub’s exhibition and performance project called COPRODUCTION that is being shown at the Room gallery at 70 Juta St in Braamfontein from April 10th.

Tickets to the double AMERICAN JUNK & EURO TRASH are twenty rand or if you bring a book to the door you will pay ten rand.
 The double bill runs from the 17th of April to 21 April at 19h00 and lasts approximately one hour, by which time you might catch the GAUTRAIN home as the Belgrave Hotel where the play will be performed is situated two minutes from the GAUTRAIN station.
