Celebrating World Book and Copyright Day at the Education Library

On 23 April 2025, the Education Faculty Library hosted a special event to mark World Book and Copyright Day, raising awareness about the importance of reading and protecting creative work.

Guest speaker Ms. Caroline Zondi, a doctoral candidate in the Faculty of Education and published children’s author, shared her inspiring journey into publishing. She emphasized the crucial role of copyright in safeguarding authors’ intellectual property.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of literacy and challenges Grade 4 learners face in reading for meaning—an insight that resonated strongly with the audience of aspiring teachers.

Students who attended the session expressed newfound interest in publishing their own books and learning more about the copyright process.
