Welcome - Precious Mahlangu

Precious Mahlangu has been appointed as an Information Officer in the Digitisation Unit at the Department of Library Services. She holds an Honours degree in Information Science from the University of Pretoria. Precious previously worked as a student assistant in the Digitisation Unit and as a school assistant, supporting both digital and educational tasks.

In her current role, she is responsible for digitising library materials - scanning, editing, creating accurate metadata, and organising them for easy access. She ensures that digital collections are reliable and accessible to support research and learning. Looking ahead, she aims to grow in data and information management and explore new technologies to enhance knowledge access.

A night owl - thanks to late-night varsity study sessions and assignments.

Growing from a student assistant to securing a full-time position.

Funny, charismatic, curious.

Anything sweet - especially chocolate!

5. What’s one totally irrational fear you have?

Public speaking.
