Farewell - Monia Johnson

Posted on April 30, 2025

As my time at the University of Pretoria comes to an end after 17 years of service in the Finance Unit at the Department of Library Services, I find myself reflecting on the many experiences, challenges, and milestones we’ve shared. It’s hard to believe that all these years have passed so quickly, and while I’m excited for the next chapter in my life, saying goodbye to such an important part of my journey feels bittersweet.

Working alongside such dedicated, hardworking, and passionate colleagues in the Finance Unit has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. I have learned so much from each of you, and I’m deeply grateful for the professional growth and friendships that have developed during my time here. Together, we’ve faced challenges, celebrated successes, and continuously worked to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the library services. The collaborative spirit and sense of shared purpose in our department has been truly inspiring.

I am especially proud of the work we’ve done in supporting the academic community and ensuring that the library’s financial management aligns with the University’s broader goals. It’s been an honour to contribute to such an important part of the institution, and I will always carry the lessons learned and the experiences gained with me as I move forward.

While I will certainly miss the daily interactions and the camaraderie we’ve built over the years, I am excited to embrace new opportunities and challenges. Please know that I will cherish the memories of our time together and that I’m always just a message away if you need anything or would like to stay in touch.

Thank you for the support, guidance, and collaboration throughout the years. I wish each of you continued success, and I’m confident that the Finance Unit will continue to thrive and make a significant impact at the University.

With heartfelt thanks and warmest wishes.
