Important Notice: System change and guidelines for the submission of prescribed and recommended textbooks

Posted on January 27, 2025

The Department of Library Services has updated its process for managing this prescribed and recommended textbook titles submission.  The Nevada system which was previously used for this purpose will no longer be in use effective 2025.

Lecturers and departmental administrators are required to submit textbook information by completing this form. We encourage you to use the library’s catalogue to identify required titles.

To ensure textbooks are available before the semester commence, please adhere to the following submission deadlines:

  • Semester 1 textbooks: Submit by 30 September (e.g., submit by 30 September 2025 for Semester 1, 2026).
  • Semester 2 textbooks: Submit by 30 April.

Please also keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • No double submissions: You do not need to submit the same title in multiple formats. However, if the same book is used for multiple modules, it must be listed under each relevant module.
  • Re-submit each semester: Textbooks must be submitted every semester, even if they were included in a previous semester’s list. Note that module codes and student counts may vary.
  • Edition updates: Submit the most recent edition of the textbook or indicate if a forthcoming edition is preferred.
  • Adherence to the Competition Act: Bookshops will only procure textbooks based on the official list provided to the library. Please do not liaise directly with specific bookshops, as the information must be accessible to all in compliance with the Competition Act.
  • Exclusion of study guides: Study guides are not used to collect information on prescribed textbooks.

We appreciate your cooperation in implementing this updated procedure to ensure timely and accurate textbook availability for our students.
