Welcome - Zandile Mthethwa, Cataloguer

Zandile Mthethwa joined the Department of Library Services as a Cataloguer in September 2024. In this role, she is responsible for bibliographic metadata creation (cataloguing), involvement in library strategic projects, and other related tasks. Zandile is originally from Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, and she obtained her qualification in Librarianship from the University of Zululand (Ongoye). Previously, she held positions as a Librarian at the City of Johannesburg and the National Library of South Africa (Pretoria Campus).

1. What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?
Linked data and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

2. If you could write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?
Anything About Resilience.

3. What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Reading and improving my public speaking skills.

4. If you could only eat one item for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Meat and fish.

5. What’s one song you have completely memorized?
Makabongwe by Ntokozo Mbambo.
