RAG of Hope Day Event 4 May 2024

Two information specialists from the Humanities Library, Fundiswa Buthelezi and Thandi Dyantyi, were honoured to join the RAG of Hope Day event as judges. This event, held on 4 May 2024, at the RAG Farm on the Hillcrest Sports Campus, was a collaboration between the library and student organizations, with participants from student residences.

RAG of Hope is a fundraising event where student life structures raise funds for their chosen charities. The event aimed to support charities in expanding their resources to give more to the community. To raise funds, attendees were required to donate non-perishable food items, sanitary towels, clothes, or monetary donations to gain entry.

The event featured a craft market where participants sold handmade crafts made from recyclable materials, food stalls for refreshments, live music, sports, games, and a talent show called UP's Got Talent. The event was open to everyone, not just UP students. The top three finalists in the talent show were awarded prizes based on the judges' final decisions.
