Mandela Day Celebration at the Education Library

In celebration of Mandela Day, the Education Library held an Information Session on 1 August 2024, complete with refreshments to reintroduce students to the array of services and resources available. Presenters Rebecca Bapela and Kamogelo Mphuti led the session, which highlighted key topics such as the library collection, book renewal procedures, Makerspace services, subject guides, navigating the library webpage, and techniques for searching books and articles.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where students predominantly asked about the book renewal process and showed significant interest in the Makerspace services. Some attendees raised concerns about the limited computer space, upon which they were advised to use the computer labs on campus. There were also comments on the need for more information on accessing recommended and prescribed books.

Participants enjoyed the provided tea, coffee, and biscuits, which complemented the pleasant weather. Despite expecting only 40 attendees based on registrations, the event saw around 120 students in attendance. The students expressed their gratitude for the session and showed eagerness for future events of a similar nature.
