Pretoria Boys High School media prefects' excursion to the Merensky 2 Library

On 8 May 2024, fifteen Pretoria Boys High School Media prefects, accompanied by their librarians, Mrs. Karen Botha and Ms. P. Chokwe, toured the Merensky 2 Library.

The Boys High library staff aims to arrange annual outings for the boys to libraries or institutions of interest. Remembering how fascinated a group some years ago had been, Mrs Botha was enthusiastic about bringing this year's media prefects to visit the UP library as well.

The boys exhibited a keen interest in the MakerSpace and engaged Zama Khanyile, our Copyright Officer, with a barrage of questions regarding copyright. Additionally, they expressed a particular fascination with the self-service machine, the Learning Centre, and the library's marketing initiatives.

After the visit, their teacher, Mrs. Karen Botha, thanked the library staff members "Once again, thank you very much for your generous UP hospitality. It is sincerely appreciated. The boys truly enjoyed themselves and found the entire outing very educational."

Who knows, perhaps the department of Library Services could invite librarians and media prefects from neighbouring schools annually, to offer them a tour, and to obtain focus group input from them in return! Some learners could even end up as students of Information Science...
