Teaching and Learning Week: Unlocking Tomorrow’s Intelligence in Teaching and Learning Support tailored for Academics

The Department of Library Services (DLS) is excited to announce our Teaching and Learning Week, scheduled from 15 to 19 April 2024, tailored specifically for academics. This event promises engaging sessions and discussions exploring critical topics like Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning, Digital Storytelling, and Critical Thinking, among others, all of which are shaping the future landscape of Higher Education.  

Day 1

Theme: Inclusive Education: A Global and South African Perspective

We kick off with Ms. Ulviyya Mikailova from the Centre for Education and Innovation at Baku State University, Azerbaijan, and Prof. Daniela Gachago from the Centre for Innovation for Learning and Teaching at the University of Cape Town sharing their insights on Inclusive Education Experience.

Theme: Artificial Intelligence and Teaching and Learning

Join us for Day 2 of Teaching and Learning Week as we delve into Artificial Intelligence's role in shaping education. Prof Leo Lo from the University of New Mexico’s College of University Libraries and Learning Services, and Mr. Bonza Majozi, Education Innovation from the University of Pretoria, will discuss the evolving integration of AI in libraries and academia.

Explore the future of Teaching and Learning support on Day 3 with guest speakers Mr. Robert Obrien and MsRuth Jenkins, Academic Support Librarians from the University of Edinburgh. Gain insights into generative AI and systematic review support initiatives.
