The Special Collections Book of the Week this week is:

Thinking Diversity While Building Cohesion: Transnational Dialogue on Education by M. Nkomo & S. Vandeyar.

This book takes us beyond expressions of disgust or descriptions of problems into multi-perspectival and comparative analyses of what sustains deep divisions among students at all levels of the education system. It draws attention to complexities in the ways difference and diversity express themselves in schools and classrooms. Race, the contributors argue, seldom operates on its own. The intersection of class, gender and religious identities come together powerfully to determine social and academic outcomes in institutions.
