DLS End-of-Year Picnic Under the African Sun

On Friday, December 1, 2023, the DLS culminated the year with a spectacular end-of-year celebration, themed "Picnic Under the African Sun." The collaborative effort between the Mamelodi Campus Library and the OR Tambo Law Library resulted in a memorable event that embraced the beauty of nature and fostered a sense of camaraderie among attendees.

The chosen setting at the Mamelodi campus, a picturesque picnic garden beneath the shade of trees, provided the perfect backdrop for an enjoyable day basking in the warmth of the African sun.

The highlight of the celebration was the karaoke team-building exercises, which proved to be immensely popular. This activity not only allowed participants to showcase their dancing and musical talents to the DLS team but also created a laid-back atmosphere conducive to connecting and enjoying each other's company. It successfully promoted togetherness and a sense of team spirit.

The primary objective of the team-building exercises was to establish bonds and create enduring memories among coworkers by fostering a sense of community and unity. To encourage cooperation, teamwork, and friendly rivalry, colleagues were grouped together to select, rehearse, and perform a song on stage during the karaoke session.

The DJ, serving as a judge, added a touch of professionalism to the event, fostering enthusiasm and objectivity in the evaluation process. The karaoke musical performance was designed not only to promote team building but also to boost morale in an enjoyable manner. The inclusion of a judge intensified team member participation and injected excitement into the session.

Fairness was a key element in the performance evaluation process, as well as in the selection and acknowledgment of the most exceptional or entertaining group. The winning team, whose performance featured a song composed by one of their recording artist team members, received individual gifts as a token of recognition.
