The talent among us - Katlego Aphane releases his debut album “Wedding Day”

Posted on September 06, 2023

Our very own Information Specialist for Mathematics, Katlego Aphane, has recently released his debut album titled “Wedding Day”. The Department of Library Services would like to congratulate Katlego on such an amazing achievement and celebrate his beautiful talent and artwork.

So, we asked him a few questions about his album and his passion for music:

1. What type of album is it?

Wedding Day is a Gospel album. It is a conceptual album that examines and explains the idea of marriage and a wedding by educating listeners about various scriptures relating to the topic.

2. What was the goal and message of the album?

The album is dedicated to my parents who have been married for over 40 years. I aimed to show my appreciation for them and their love and to spread the word of God and what a wedding and marriage symbolises in the word of God.

Katlego's parents at their wedding.

3. How did you become interested in making music and singing?

I have always loved music and listening to music. When I was younger, my mother used to sing to me and she inspired me to start singing. I have been singing since I was 5 years old.

4. Will you make another album?

I am currently working on my second album. The theme for the second album is going to be Hope. People have asked me to do another Gospel album and I cannot wait to share more of my love and praise for God through my music.

5. How long did the whole process take?

From when I decided to start making the album, to its final release date, it took about a year. The album was released on 10 April 2023 and I officially started working on it in March 2022. The whole process has been a big learning curve.

6. Who did you collaborate with on this album?

I had to collaborate with a producer, several background singers as well as printing and designing companies. I am severely grateful for all the help and collaboration I received along the way and would mostly like to thank my dear friend Maxwell Botha for his collaboration.

7. How can we find your music or purchase the album?

For now, you can contact me directly for a hard copy of the album. Currently, I am developing a website where you will be able to purchase the album online. Please find my contact details here:
