Saying Goodbye to Our Retiring Staff Members

Posted on August 30, 2023

We would like to bid a proper farewell to our retiring staff members and would like to acknowledge the lasting impact they have made on the Department of Library Services (DLS) and the relationships they have built with their colleagues. Their expertise, guidance and presence in the library space will be greatly missed.

Farwell to the following DLS staff members:

Josephine Modiba

The DLS would like to bid farewell to Josephine Modiba, our cherished Interlending Co-ordinator. She retired on 30 June 2023, after many years of working for the DLS. Her kind smile and warm presence will be missed by the library staff and anyone who was lucky enough to interact with her on campus. Wishing you a peaceful retirement.

Rianie van der Linde

Our hearts are saddened at the goodbye of Rianie as she has worked at the DLS for an astounding 15 years. However, we wish for calm and peaceful sailing in her journey into retirement as we say goodbye to the former information specialist for Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and the Forestry & Agricultural Biotechnology Institute (FABI). Here are a few words from Rianie.

“It seems not long ago when, on a beautiful April day in the year of 2008, I first boarded the Merensky 2 Library Ship.

But a lot of water has flowed into the sea, up to now.

I ventured through many different seas since that day. It sometimes took some serious effort sailing the Chemistry waters, but the precious discoveries made on those shores will always be dear to me. There were numerous gems that I discovered on other delightful shores, where I was privileged to roam during these years.

Throughout this journey, my colleagues have always been a reliable crew. They anchored me through calm and rough seas.

To all my fellow sailors: I salute you! Your friendship and support will always be treasured.

“Don’t give up the ship!” Keep on sailing. God bless you.”
