Getting to know our new permanent staff members Thabang, Kholiwe and Winkie

 As a department committed to providing exceptional library services to our community, we believe that each individual brings unique skills and perspectives that enrich our collective efforts. We value the fresh ideas and energy that new members bring, and we are confident that your presence will further enhance the quality of service we provide to our patrons.

Getting to know Thabang Tisane

  1. What led you to this career? I have always had a passion for working in educational institutions, and this career opportunity allowed me to both enhance my skills and pursue further studies.
  2. Are you an early bird or a night owl? I am a night owl.
  3. What do you do to turn things around when you're having a bad day? I listen to music and try to approach everything I do with a positive attitude in order to turn things around.
  4. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I aspired to be a sound engineer and animator. My passion for drawing and watching anime series, combined with inspiration from successful individuals in the industry, fueled this aspiration.
  5. What book are you currently reading? "Notes From Underground" by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
  6. What's your favorite sport to watch and which team do you support? Soccer and I am a strong supporter of Manchester United.

Getting to know Kholiwe Mayisa:

  1. What do you do at the Department of Library Services and in what circumstances would I come to you for something? I am an Information Specialist at the Medical Library. You can come to me for various reasons, including training in the use of information resources and database searching. I can assist you in evaluating, filtering, and analyzing information. Additionally, I can provide guidance and support throughout the research process.
  2. What's your favorite sport to watch, and which team do you support? I am a huge soccer fan, and my favorite sport to watch is soccer. I support Kaizer Chiefs, Barcelona, and Manchester City.
  3. Are you an early bird or a night owl? I am an early bird. I am most energetic and at my best during the mornings, while my energy tends to decrease as the afternoon and evening progress.
  4. Who has influenced you the most in how you approach your work? A former colleague, Ms. Shingirirai Muzondo, has had a significant influence on my work approach. She has taught me nearly everything I know about my job today.
  5. What's one thing you're currently trying to make a habit? I am currently trying to make a habit of reading something before I go to sleep
  6. What's something—big or small—that you're really good at? Cooking is something that I excel at.

  1. What’s one artist that you're embarrassed to admit you like? R. Kelly
  2. What was your first job? Newsreader
  3. What advice would you give to your teenage self? Don't worry about what others think of you.
  4. What book are you currently reading? "Doctor of Hearts: The Biography of Bongani Mayosi"
  5. What's one hobby you'd love to pursue? Hiking
  6. If you could only eat one item for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pap and mopane worms
