The DLS hosts the 4th Annual Mind-Altering Books 2022

Posted on January 23, 2023

26 September 2022 saw the 4th annual Mind-Altering Books event taking place in a hybrid format: in the library auditorium, as well as online. The Humanities Faculty collaborates with the Department of Library Services (DLS) annually in arranging both the “Match the Brain” competition and the Mind-Altering Books event. It has become quite a highlight on campus, and continues to inspire conversations and, hopefully, some new ideas and programmes.

Titles on the day’s programme included the following:

  • Professor Thulasizwe Simpson (Historical and Heritage Studies):  “The Writings of Willam James” edited by John J McDermott
  • Prof Marie-Heleen Coetzee (Department of Drama): “Once were Warriors” by Alan Duffy
  • Mr. Jarred Thompson (Department of English): Tracy K Smith’s poetry anthology “Life on Mars”
  • Dr Idette Noomé (Department of English) “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley

For a recording of the event, please inquire from [email protected].

Congratulations to our Prize-Winners for the Match the Brain competition!
