It was with great excitement that the Department of Library Services (DLS) hosted an inspirational hybrid event titled “Me, Myself, and My Journey to the Red Gown” with Dr Isimangaliso Malatjie as the guest speaker. Her hard work, commitment, and focused attitude enabled her to accomplish many great achievements in her life.
During this event, she shared her life story and journey which resonated with the audience, who were inspired. Her life story reflects an individual with tenacity and self-belief. She did not only obtain her Masters and Doctoral qualifications but also published a book and at least ten motivational videos on various topics such as achieving a balanced life and cultivating healthy relationships.
During this event, she shared her journey to success and the publication of her first book titled “Me, Myself, and My Journey to the Red Gown”. In her book, she encourages every individual on the journey of a thousand miles to have a vision, understand themselves and identify their passion. She encouraged the audience members to celebrate their victories, never to give up, and be bold. She made it clear that success is not an accident - it is through hard work, sacrifices, and perseverance that we reach our goals and become successful.
This was an incredible and inspirational event where all attendees could reflect on their life journey and celebrate and look forward to reaching their goals. The DLS looks forward to hosting more inspirational events in future, to inspire and encourage students and staff members.
