The DLS editorial team recently caught up with Lesego to hear how the library is making a difference in his life. Read his story below.

" I am Lesego Raseroka a recent (UP) BA Law graduate, currently a third-year LLB candidate. When I was admitted to study BA Law in 2019, I was caught in a quandary as to whether I should pursue a career in law or an honours in the humanities department.

However, owing to the wealth of resources in the Department of Library Services, particularly the e-Resources I was able to make an informed choice about where my greatest interest lies between the humanities and the law.

The DLS offers library training which has been integral in how I have accessed and utilized the library material available. At first glance, this has helped me remarkably in finding the resources I needed to pass my tests and assignments over the years, but interestingly access to the many journals and books, particularly the e-versions has been essential to how I do my research and my choice in furthering my studies in law.

In addition to the traditional library services, the University of Pretoria DLS presents a holistic e-service to students, including e-Books, e-Journals, an academic portal, a digital research repository, customised web pages, an e-thesis database, and knowledge tools, digitised full-text local collections, and a digital reference service. This has provided me with ample stimulating knowledge not only about the law and how the law works but for lifelong learning.

As I am preparing for my dissertation, I am looking forward to using the library services for research purposes which, needless to say, will be a tedious task however, owing to the available services, the superb information specialists, and librarians this task will be achievable in due time. Experience has taught me that you are never alone with the DLS at UP."
