Do you need a library book? Use the search function to check whether we've got the electronic version of the book in our collection: http://www.library.up.ac.za/index.htm
If the hard copy is available, follow the following procedure to place the book on hold.
- Visit the Library website at www.library.up.ac.za.
- Scroll to the search bar underneath the image banner.
- Select “Books”.
- Type the title of the book you need by title or author in the search bar and press Enter.
- You can filter results by selecting “Print book” under the Format tab.
- Click on the title of the book you need.
- Ensure that the book's status indicates that it is "Available".
- Scroll and click on the blue “Place hold” button.
- Provide your portal information.
- Submit the request.
- The library will communicate the exact time of the book collection and where you may pick up the book, so remember to check your email for confirmation.
- If you have a campus access permit, the pick-up location of the book will be the library where the book is located.
- If you do not have a campus permit, the pick-up location of the book will be the Roper Street (main) entrance at the University of Pretoria.
Please note:
- Books from the Study Collection (GV) and reference books (N) may not be placed on hold. Please submit a digitisation request for these resources.
