In November 2022, the Department of Construction Economics received an in-person accreditation visit from the CIOB for both the BSc Construction Management and BSc (Hons) Construction Management programmes. The purpose of the visit was to renew the existing accredited programmes. The visit was led by Dr. Hasan Haroglu (FCIOB) from Kingston University, UK, Dr. Ramesh Marasin (MCIOB) from Buckinghamshire New University, UK, Ms. Laura Streling, CIOB International Accreditation Manager, UK and Mr. Ntando Teddy Khuzwayo, CIOB Qualifications Liaison Manager, Sub-Sahara Africa. It is with pride that the Department can report that “Accredited Centre Status and programmes have been renewed until 2027” by the CIOB. This means that students who have graduated from UP either with a BSc CM or BSc (Hons) CM qualification and want to expand their horizons abroad in terms of employment, can therefore claim CIOB accreditation of their qualifications, opening up more possibilities to them.
