Construction Economics

Notice to students:

Dear students, as you know the POPI act was implemented in July 2021. To comply with the act one of the changes is that administrators of WhatsApp groups has to get permission from persons to participate in the group. For this reason, you are allowed to refuse permission and leave the group. 

If you choose to stay on the group, you give permission that: 

  • Your name and contact number will be visible to members of the group and you don’thave any problem with that
  • That you undertake not to use or share any personal information from any members ofthis group with any other people or groups.

Departmental Information

The Department is a leader in the provision of well-prepared practitioners in the fields of construction and property development in the private and public sector, both locally and abroad. We are accredited with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professionals (SACPCMP), the South African Council For The Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP) as well as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). We also have a strong relationship with industry and relevant professional associations such as the Associaton of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS), the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) and the South African Council for Shopping Centres (SACSC).  Our department offers regular short courses aimed at skills development in the industry.
