A new digital era of teaching and learning has dawned upon us. Technological teaching and learning tools are rapidly replacing the traditional blackboard, pens and books. Globally, this rapid change in the education sector is not taking place uniformly. In distance education programmes, facilitators are doing their best to succeed with what little they may find available in their educational environments. The 2025 DETA Conference will give delegates from diverse distance education disciplines a chance to explore innovative and sustainable solutions to technological and pedagogical challenges from the Global South and beyond.
