During her two months stay at the CEA, Ms Van Kuijk will, among other activities, visit schools participating in the South African monitoring system for primary schools (SAMP) project, and give presentations at the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Education on data-driven teaching, school performance feedback systems and standard-setting procedures as conducted in the teacher professional development programme she is currently working on. She will also collaborate with other researchers in the CEA.
Ms Van Kuijk received her Master’s degree in Educational Science (cum laude) in 2007 and completed a Research Master’s degree in 2009. She began with her Phd project in February 2009 at the Groningen Institute for Educational Research (GION), in which she investigates how performance standards can be used for improving reading comprehension performance midway primary school. Her research interests are educational effectiveness, standard setting, teacher professional development, reading comprehension, data-driven teaching and performance feedback systems. Ms Van Kuijk is currently writing articles on standard setting and the effectiveness of the teacher professional development programme she has conducted as part of her dissertation.
