Posted on October 27, 2017

Tebogo Loate, a master’s student in the Department of Business Management, along with lecturers Mr Wesley Niemann and Mr Theuns Kotzé, recently received the Best Paper Award at the 1st African Operations Management Conference.

The conference took place at Misty Hills in Muldersdrift from 2 to 4 October 2017. The aim of the conference was to provide a platform for researchers to meet and share cutting-edge development in the field of operations management in an African context.

Tebogo presented the paper titled ‘A case study analysis of the order fulfilment model adopted by a South African online grocery retailer’.

Order fulfilment has presented itself as a key challenge facing online grocery retailers throughout the world. Many of the early movers were mostly from developed countries and were met with challenges related to order fulfilment, a large number succumbing to bankruptcy. The research paper examined the order fulfilment model implemented in order to understand the factors that have influenced the choice of model, as well as how it has been implemented specifically within the South African context.

Congratulations to this student and staff in the Department of Business Management.
