UP Business Rescue

Turnaround Management and Business Rescue
The Department of Business Management at the University of Pretoria has specialised in business turnaround management for over 15 years. The recent inclusion of formal turnaround proceedings has brought about more attention to a highly specialised field of study. Business Rescue provides South African companies with a powerful mechanism to adapt and navigate through the turbulent economic conditions we now face. The novelty of the regime is challenged by a lack of formal training, an issue the university stands at the forefront of addressing.
The field is headed by Professor Marius Pretorius, who spearheads the research with Wesley Rosslyn-Smith. Both are engaged in continued research and training in the field. Although this field can currently only be studied at postgraduate level, the Department offers short-courses for scholars looking at gaining insight into the industry. The team actively consults through Enterprises at UP, ensuring relevant and accurate subject matter.
