Posted on September 07, 2017

On Monday, 7 August 2017, Mr Neil Hobkirk (Director: Elevate the Core & Hansa) and Dr Cindy Rautenbach (Africa Talent Attraction Manager) of Brazilian beverage and brewing company AB InBev presented a guest lecture on doing business in Africa to the International Business Management third-year students. In his lecture, Mr Hobkirk introduced the students to AB InBev’s current and future operations in Africa, followed by a presentation from Dr Rautenbach on the AB InBev Africa Graduate Programme. The presentation was very relevant to the final-year students, many of whom will be entering the job market in 2018.

The event was also marked by a visit by Prof Mourad Dakhli of Georgia State University to the Department of Business Management and the International Business Management class. Prof Dakhli brought group of students to South Africa on a study tour.

At the conclusion of the guest lecture, a meet-and-greet was arranged where the two guest lecturers along with the visiting students from Georgia State University were able to interact with the International Business Management student from UP’s Department of Business Management. The meet-and-greet not only offered valuable opportunity for the students from the two universities to meet and exchange ideas, but also provided a further opportunity for the students to engage with the two guest lecturers.
