Launch of a mentorship programme for BCom option Supply Chain Management students

Posted on May 24, 2010

The Department of Business Management believes in fostering strong relationships with professional bodies and vocational societies. Therefore the objective of the mentorship programme is to bridge the gap between studying and working in the fields of Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Members of CILTSA have a wealth of knowledge and expertise across the supply chain. In addition, CILT International has vast international expertise which will be at the dispose for the students of the University of Pretoria.

“Students are often not exposed to the working environment of their chosen career until after they graduate from university. Thus, their expectations of the work environment and the reality are worlds apart and they are often not prepared for the adjustment. The mentorship pogramme aims to address the above mentioned issues to ensure that the students gain an all round education which make them employable at the end of their studies. This venture is a case of following a path to ensure that a good foundation of academic content is moulded into a performance-output ability that will grow from strength to strength” says Mr Wesley Niemann, Supply Chain Management Coordinator in the Department of Business Management at the University of Pretoria.
