The seminar commenced with a presentation by Mrs. Leigh Weimer, a Supply Chain Manager at Imperial Logistics about the business activities of Imperial Logistics and gave students a glimpse about the role and daily responsibilities of a supply chain manager.
Mrs. Gertrude Lata, a Human Resources Officer at Builders Warehouse (Mass Mart) highlighted the importance of people in the workplace. Valuable tips were given to students about how to compile a comprehensive curriculum vitae and cover letter.
Ms. Anje Binedell, Skills Development Manager at Imperial Logistics, gave students practical advice on how to prepare for an interview including the do’s and don’ts during an interview.
Ms. Viwe Sibuta, a recruitment consultant at Tech-Pro Personnel gave an uplifting presentation on career opportunities in the field of supply chain management. The key processes in supply chain management namely, plan, source, make, deliver and return to group as well as the possible career opportunities were discussed.
Lastly, Ms. Lizanne Conradie of the Client Service Centre of the University of Pretoria informed students of the services offered by the UP Career office.
The seminar concluded with a finger lunch where students had the opportunity to network with the speakers.
