The seminar commenced with a presentation by Mrs Liezl Smith, current President of the Association for Operations Management of Southern Africa (SAPICS), about what it takes to be a successful supply chain manager in today’s ever-changing and competitive industry. This was followed by short presentations on career opportunities by companies such as South African Breweries (SAB), Accenture, Colgate Palmolive, Massmart, Brand House, Imperial Logistics, Reckitt Benckiser, Kellogg’s and Blue Strata Trading.

Other vocational societies who took part in the programme were the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).

The seminar concluded with a finger lunch where students had the opportunity to network with the speakers and company representatives.

Many enthusiastic students attended the seminar and questions were eagerly asked as students actively took part in the discussions at the end of each session. Positive attitudes were experienced among the students as they took full advantage of the networking opportunity with possible future employers at the seminar.
