Dr Van den Berg is a prominent thinker and practitioner in the fields of warehouse management and warehouse management systems (WMS) and his innovative ideas set the standard in these fields. He has assisted many enterprises in improving their distribution centres, their supply chain and their use of WMS.
In 1996 he was the first Dutchman who earned a PhD in the field of warehousing with his thesis entitled “Planning and Control of Warehousing Systems”. Since 2001 he has lead the consulting firm Jeroen van den Berg Consulting.
Beside his work as a consultant, he is also a popular speaker at conferences and seminars and teaches at various academic institutions. He has written many trade publications and is often interviewed on his field of expertise. Since 1999 he investigated the WMS market in annual surveys, in order to broaden his knowledge of the market and the capabilities of systems.
Dr Van den Berg is the author of the book Integral Warehouse Management (2007) which introduces a new approach for optimising warehouses. Another book entitled Best Practices in Logistics Performance Indicators (2006) has been published under his supervision.
