The purpose of the career day is for students to gain information about career opportunities in supply chain management and what a career in this profession entails.

“The career day is an ideal platform for students to make personal contact with industry and possible career opportunities,” said Mr Wesley Niemann, Programme Manager of the Supply Chain Management & Logistics programme.

The 2013 career day, that took place in July on the Hatfield campus of the University of Pretoria, boasted with exhibitors and speakers from local and international companies like DHL Supply Chain, Accenture, Shoprite, Vector Logistics, Aspen Pharmacare and UTi, to name but a few.

Liezl Smith, a speaker from SAPICS, highlighted the importance of networking within the supply chain community. Accenture introduced the world of supply chain consulting to students. DHL Supply Chains gave insight into everyday activities and how to manage duties and responsibilities within the network. Imperial Logistics introduced their respected graduate program which is very practically orientated.

Rainbow Chickens taught the students about the logistics system by playing a quiz game and the winners received prizes. Siyasiza Human Capital ended the day with an interactive session on CV writing, how to go about preparing for an interview and what industry expects from a graduate.
