Dr Van den Berg presented a number of lectures from 19–21 August 2013. His innovating ideas set new standards in warehouse management and have helped many enterprises to improve their distribution centres and supply chains, as well as their use of WMS.

In 1996 he became the first person in the Netherlands to obtain a PhD in the field of warehousing with his thesis entitled ‘Planning and Control of Warehousing Systems’. Besides working as a consultant, he is also a popular speaker at conferences and seminars. He teaches at various academic institutions in the Netherlands and other European countries, has written scientific articles and many trade publications, and is often interviewed on his field of expertise. Dr Van den Berg has been investigating the WMS market in annual surveys since 1999, and this has contributed to his broad knowledge of the market and the capabilities of systems.
