During the conference, Mrs Elizabeth Kruger from the Tourism Management Division, who has recently completed research on sports tourism skills development needs and priorities, participated in a panel discussion around the theme ‘supporting the sports tourism industry through skills development’. Prof Ernie Heath from the Department of Business Management presented a paper entitled ‘How can local government assist in supporting events: Some international perspectives’ and also facilitated a panel discussion around this theme, involving events managers from some of South Africa’s leading events cities, as well as representatives from sports federations.

Some of the resolutions that emanated from the conference relating to youth development, education, research, impact analysis and entrepreneurship enhancement, provide possible future research, education and community engagement opportunities for the University of Pretoria.
