Mr Wesley Niemann, the programme manager and Prof Gideon Nieman, one of the lecturers, presented the certificates. The Mpumalanga Department of Finance initiated the one-year programme to improve the capacity of the officials in order for them to be responsive to current policy and operational developments in supply chain management environment in Mpumalanga province. “The officials that successfully went through this programme will be able to fully interpret supply chain management practices in their respective departments and ensure that there is compliance in terms thereof,” said the Provincial Supply Chain Manager, Mr Robert Masambo.

According to Mr Niemann, the programme is expanding the pool of officials who will assist the provincial departments, municipalities and public entities to effectively monitor and act on risks in the supply chain management environment and also to ensure that the issues raised in the audit reports of departments are effectively addressed. The Mpumalanga Department of Finance urged the successful officials to optimally apply the skills they acquired through this programme to speed up service delivery and more importantly to save tax payers’ money.
