Township Luxury

"I discovered the MBH through a friend. I was introduced to one of the MBH training sessions when I came across the brochure for the Sparks Entrepreneurial Soft Skills Program, which detailed the course material, after reading this, I knew I was in the right place. I have been a client of the MBH for 7 months, and I can confidently say that my relationship with them has blossomed exponentially. I have received world-class business training in various courses, which have provided me with reading material in textbooks and online resources and new practical skills which I can apply to the day-to-day operations of my business.

The MBH has opened up a network I could have never imagined. For example, I have had the opportunity to network with the MBHs. reputable partners (i.e., PwC and UNICEF). One of the most recent highlights within the MBH Program is being paired with international mentors from Georgia State University, on their recent trip to South Africa (where we finally met face-to-face), they presented a practical toolkit to me of how to run my business more efficiently and profitably. This has helped my business in ways that I couldn't have imagined.

The MBH has provided me with knowledge, resources and a support structure that will ensure my brand's long-term growth, sustainability and success, Township Luxury, a futuristic, authentic and home-brewed fashion label".

Agronomos Primary Cooperative Limited

We are a family cooperative known as Agronomos primary Cooperative limited; specialising in crop production and soon to embark on layers production. We attended the Sparks programme after a friend recommended it in 2021. We made no mistake by visiting the business hub and it was at the right time. we were empowered and mentored on how to run a business as new ventures. Attending the Sparks introduced us to Mamelodi Business Hub.

Our journey during the Sparks programme has always been fascinating, empowering, eye-opening, skill enhancing and has made us always draw closer towards fulfilling our goals/vision as farmers. We've learnt how to unpack our ideas, pitching, negotiating deals, drafting a business plan, computer literacy, financials as well as using PowerPoint. We've met a number of business stakeholders like UNICEF,  ABSA ,as well as entrepreneurs attending the business plan training programme and the taxation workshop. MBH and their entrepreneurial programmes have been a pillar and a vehicle to help us grow our business knowledge and provided us with the roadmap to creating a successful business.

There has been such a great opportunity for local business networking from different sectors which would have not been exposed to us if it wasn't Sparks programme. We now can collaborate and share business ideas for a good cause. We would like to thank personally thank: Mrs. Salome Pretorius ', Mrs Samantha Rabie, Mrs Jacobs, Debbie, Robyn, Professor Alex and all the other Stakeholders behind the scenes for giving us such an opportunity and a platform to grow our businesses. We are also thankful for the establishment of the MBH which we can use as our resource centre. May the project continue to empower more entrepreneurs.

The Mamelodi Business Hub has been a blessing to our community, I know from first-hand experience. The knowledge they endowed on me is priceless and I will forever be grateful for being associated with this institution. The world-class programmes have afforded me the skills to navigate the business world with confidence and newfound professionalism.

As  aspiring entrepreneurs we are tutored on real life case scenarios, on how to be efficient, direct and effective. I have personally applied the teachings and it is bearing fruit. I have learnt to negotiate, compete effectively and properly price my service, most importantly I have learnt to help customers understand my value as a service provider. I noticed that I actually knew nothing and thus I’m inspired to enrol for short courses offered by the University of Pretoria to further my understanding.

The community is benefiting immensely from the Hub and the township economy will be revived. I thank you Robyn and Debbie for affording me this opportunity and thank you to all the lecturers tutoring us and exposing our ignorance. It feels good being a part of the Tukkies family. Thank you for reminding me of the value of education.
