The Department of Auditing at UP has Centre of Excellence status (one of only five schools globally which has this status) and the IAEP School at NAU is accredited at the partner level (one of sixteen partner schools).

Prof YIN Ping, Vice-President of NAU and a delegation of senior staff visited the Department of Auditing during March 2012 to give a presentation at the annual internal audit students’ conference at Sun City, as well as to meet with Prof Robin Crewe, Acting Senior Vice-Principal at the University of Pretoria and Prof Nick Schoeman, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, to discuss opportunities for expanding the cooperation between the two institutions by including other departments of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, such as Accounting and Financial Management, in the cooperation agreement.

Cooperation between the two IAEP programmes is of strategic importance to both NAU and UP’s Department of Auditing. An academic staff member of the Department of Auditing will visit NAU during October 2012 and students of the Department will join the NAU IAEP programme from September 2012 to January 2013. Two NAU students joined UP’s Department of Auditing’s IAEP programme from July to November 2012 as part of a six-month exchange programme. The Department of Auditing and NAU are looking forward to a long-term working relationship through the IIA’s IAEP initiative with their common goal to develop competent internal auditors for the profession.
