The conference took place from 8 to 11 July 2012 and was attended by approximately 3 000 internal auditors from across the globe.

The Department of Auditing shared an exhibit with the Louisiana State University’s Centre for Internal Auditing (LSUCIA), their partner programme. Both the Department of Auditing at the University of Pretoria and LSUCIA’s internal auditing programmes are accredited as Centres of Excellence, and the Department and LSU have a long-standing relationship spanning more than a decade.

The Department of Auditing was represented by Prof Philna Coetzee and Mr Rudrik du Bruyn. The exhibit proved to be very successful and numerous enquiries were received from conference attendees. The MPhil is aimed at senior internal auditors, and the conference allowed the Department to recruit international students for the degree, as well as to network with internal audit practitioners and academics from across the globe.
