Entry Requirements
BScLArch (or equivalent) degree or BScArch (or equivalent) degree and at least one year of practical experience and/or a record of an extended study excursion or
Advanced Diploma in Horticulture, or Advanced Diploma in Ornamental and Landscape Horticulture or equivalent horticultural degree at NQF level 7
Relevant tertiary qualification in a spatial or environmental planning field at NQF level 7 (or NQF level 6 for qualifications obtained before 2009)
Applicants under item 2 and 3 will be evaluated in terms of fields of knowledge and skills by the Departmental Postgraduate Committee and registration will be subject to the successful completion of preparatory modules for non-degree purposes within the Department of Architecture.
Fees
From R45 000-R78 000 (subject to annual increases)

Class structure
The one year, full-time, studio-based Honours programmes in Landscape Architecture (Professional) makes full use of the Department’s interdisciplinary focus and national and international collaboration. Theory classes and design studio sessions are in person and on campus. Theory modules include a combination of lectures, seminar discussions and workshops. Design studio sessions include formal and informal critiques, workshops, peer feedback and study leader feedback sessions.
General Notes
Applicants who completed the BScArch at the University of Pretoria with a minimum of 70% average in the final year of study (including 70% for design in the final year) and completed all third-year modules in the same academic year, will be automatically granted admission after a year of practical experience, but will be required to submit a portfolio of visual work.
All other candidates are selected on merit over three rounds of elimination:
Round 1: Academic record
Round 2: Biographical questionnaire and academic writing assignment
Round 3: Portfolios, journals and other assignments, and interviews with a panel of selectors.
The Department has limited places available and only accepts candidates for whom it is able to provide supervision.
