Professor Lindiwe Majele Sibanda
The department of Animal Science would like to welcome Professor Lindiwe Majele Sibanda to her academic home at UP!
Prof Sibanda is an animal scientist by profession and a practicing farmer. She holds a BSc in Animal Science from the University of Alexandria (Egypt) as well as a MSc and PhD in Animal Science from the University of Reading (UK). She is the Director and Chair of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence in Food Systems at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
Prof Sibanda is the Director and Chair of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence in Food Systems at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Prof Sibanda is the co-Chair of the Global Alliance for Climate-Smart Agriculture (GACSA) hosted by the Food, Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, Rome, Italy. She is a serving Member of the Nestle S.A. Board, the One CGIAR System Board (Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers), and the WorldVeg Board. She is also a serving member of Champions UN-SDG 12.3, accelerating progress toward reducing food loss and waste towards achieving SDG Target 12.3 by 2030.
