• Celebrating Excellence: UP's Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development Leads with Top Performers in CMAAE 2023 - PNG (0.32 MB)

  The Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at the University of Pretoria (UP) is thrilled to extend its heartfelt congratulations to McDonald Garai and Hanco Marais for their outstanding academic achievements in the Collaborative Masters in Agricultural and Applied Economics (CMAAE) program. They came second and third respectively, in the shared facility for electives of the CMAAE. A total of 124 Masters students from different African countries representing the 17 network universities participated in the shared facility for 2023, which was hosted by Agricultural Economics, Extension and Rural Development (AEERD) at the University of Pretoria. Their achievement highlights the AEERD’s commitment to delivering world-class education and research in agricultural and applied economics. We extend our sincerest gratitude to the faculty members, mentors, and staff who support our students throughout their academic journey, with a special thanks to the academics who taught at the shared facility including the visiting lecturers. Their guidance and mentorship have undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping the success of these exceptional students. We also celebrate the collective efforts of the entire department in fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. Their success serves as a source of inspiration for all members of our academic community. We wish McDonald Garai and Hanco Marais continued success and fulfilment in their future endeavours. May they continue to make meaningful contributions to the field of agricultural economics and applied economics, bringing about positive change in our society. Congratulations.
