It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our esteemed colleague and dear friend, Professor Rashid Hassan. 

Prof. Hassan was a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension and Rural Development, and a great friend to many of those he worked with over the last few years. His contribution as a professor and research in the field of natural resources and environmental economics has had a significant impact on the environmental policy field and his many achievements will continue to form part of his legacy. 

His loss is deeply felt by all those who knew him. We cherish the memories we have with him and find solace in knowing that his legacy will live on through the indelible mark he left on our department.
