Graduations are joyous occasions and are meant to be celebrated. On the 17th of April 2019, the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension and Rural Development celebrated forty-four graduates.

Among these, the Department graduated four PhDs; Dr Wytske Chamberlain-van der Werf specialising in Rural Development supervised by Dr Ward Anseeuw, Dr Elizabeth Mkandawire and Dr Agatha Zhou both specialising in Rural Development and both supervised by Prof Sheryl Hendriks, and Dr Sifiso Ntombela specialising in Agricultural Economics supervised by Dr Mmatlou Kalaba.

The Department also graduated thirteen students in the Master of Agricultural Science in Agricultural Economics program, ten students in the Bachelor of Agriculture Honours Extension and the Rural Development program, and thirteen students in the Bachelor of Agricultural Science in Agricultural Economics: Agribusiness Management program. We pride ourselves in high-quality graduates who are not only ready to join the workforce in one of the many spheres of the agricultural sector but who are also able to make a lasting contribution to society.
