SEESA seizes the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of Tukkie students

Posted on August 20, 2015

Since 1998 SEESA has grown into the largest business and labour consultancy group in South Africa, with four distinct divisions: SEESA Labour, SEESA BEE, SEESA Consumer Protection and POPI and SEESA Skills Training.

The company made contact with the University of Pretoria (UP) early in 2015 offering a wonderful opportunity for existing students in the Faculty of Law. Their vision was to support students who are working towards a law degree. However, they suggested a unique approach to the Faculty of Law: funding was to be provided in phases. First of all, they wanted to support students who were going to graduate in April 2015 by clearing the outstanding amount they owed in study loans to UP, thereby affording them the opportunity to complete their studies and enter the workplace without the burden of having to repay a study loan.

This first phase of funding allowed students like Mikateko Ngomane to complete his Master’s degree in Mercantile Law. A grateful Mr Ngomane said, ‘the donation from SEESA gave me the opportunity to pay off the money I owed for my studies much faster’. He has since started full-time employment.

Another beneficiary of the SEESA bursary funding is Ms Monica Sonjani who completed her LLM degree in International Law, Air, Space and Telecommunication Law. Ms Sonjani said, ‘The bursary came at a very good time as I was struggling to cover the outstanding fees related to my dissertation.’

This generous gesture by SEESA has gone a long way to supporting students so that they can complete their studies without the added stress of having to worry about outstanding study loans.

SEESA is an excellent example of a company who works hard to make a meaningful change in the lives of individuals and to create a better future for South Africa. UP looks forward to a meaningful partnership with SEESA well into the future and is honoured to have been a part of this process.
