2019 Achievements

 

The DeltaDrone TuksWomensRugby 7’s team played in their 10th consecutive Dubai 7’s tournament and the results are as follows:
The team finished 6th out of 16 teams and the following players played outstanding rugby: Libbie Janse van Rensburg, Jackie Kriel and Andrea-Maria Atomi.

Friendly games were played against the University of Bordeax during the first quarter of the year and Tuks won two of the three games played against Bordeaux.

Once again our team travelled to Europe where they played in the following tournaments:
CENTRALè 7’S IN PARIS, FRANCE, 8-9 MAY 2019, where they placed 4th overall after the tournament.
STANISLAS 7’S IN NANCY, FRANCE, 11-12 MAY 2019: Tuks placed 6th.
In the BENIDORM 7’S IN SPAIN, 25-26 MAY 2019, Tuks finished as runners-up in the tournament.
STUDENT WORLD GAMES – FISU, NAPOLI 5-7 JULY 2019:

Eight Ladies from the Tuks Women’s rugby side represented South Africa at the Student World games.  Riaan van der Merwe was also the Head Coach of the Team:
Libbie Janse van Rensburg (Captain), Meghan Phillips (Vice-Captain), Kemisetso Baloyi, Sunè Botha, Sancha van Niekerk, Shania Swart, Nadine Roos and Liske Lategan.

The German National Women’s Team ended TuksWomen’s winning streak of 17 victories.  In the past three years that Tuks competed in the Oktoberfest 7s, they had won 13 games without conceding a point.  Tuks had to be content with the runners-up title for the 2019 OKTOBERFEST 7’S IN MUNCHEN, GERMANY, 21 SEPTEMBER 2019.

The TuksWomen’s team walked away as champions at the USSA 7’S AT THE UNIVERSITY OF JOHANNESBURG, 28 SEPTEMBER 2019, the VARSITY 7’S, 4-5 OCTOBER 2019 as well as the ZABAVA 7’S, QUINS, PRETORIA, 12 OCTOBER 2019.
