The graduation ceremony is formal and graduates are requested to dress appropriately.

Academic dress is compulsory and graduates are required to rent or purchase the academic outfit (gown, hood, cap and tassel) from the official suppliers at their own expense.

Kindly ensure that only the hood and tassel corresponding to the qualification being conferred during the ceremony are worn. Any additional hoods and tassels may be worn afterward for photographs

Graduates in the SANDF and SAPS who wish to attend the graduation ceremony in uniform, may do so subject to the following conditions: Full military uniform with a beret. An academic gown must be worn over the uniform. It is expected of these graduates to salute the officiating functionary (Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and Principal or Vice-Principal).

Dippenaar & Reinecke and House of Graduates  are the only official service providers for academic attire as they have the prescribed wear in the correct style and colours available. The University sternly cautions against the acquisition of incorrect academic attire from unauthorised providers
