In order to improve access to healthcare, awareness plays a central and important role in the approach. By empowering communities, medical professionals and patients with appropriate tools, information and skills, they are then enabled to make high-quality and informed decisions on the prevention, treatment, care and support of illnesses or health-related issues. The importance of healthcare is to educate individuals on the importance of taking precautionary measures to live a healthy lifestyle, this can be done through the rise of public awareness e.g. campaigns and information days or centres. Health awareness can include people being aware of illnesses, how people should prevent themselves from getting an infection, how to take treatment or medication for a certain illness and the benefits or all information about the treatment. Organizing health awareness can be done by the commercial sector and non-government organizations.
Awareness of communication can make people communicate what they are going through. People’s well-being techniques and habits are heavily influenced by their beliefs and health and illness, the message of health awareness is to change people’s beliefs and actions towards certain illnesses. Depression, HIV and AIDS are some illnesses that are most common in today's society, as a result (due to lack of knowledge, education etc.), people commit suicide. Even today, most people are unaware of the major precautionary and preventative measures that they must take to be healthy. NGOs are involved in making people aware of their health.
