The University of Pretoria to assist more than 4 000 people to get vaccinated. In a recent interview, Prof.J.Hugo, elaborated on how undocumented individuals can too be vaccinated. The University of Pretoria’s (UP) Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC) Research Unit is leading the vaccination of undocumented communities against COVID-19 in Gauteng, in collaboration with partners from the international community, local NGOs and religious community leaders, and the Departments of Health and local government.

The Department of Health has taken the initiative to work within the EVDS (Electronic Vaccination Data System), to aid in the issuing of identification and enable vaccination to those undocumented individuals.

This initiative will not only aid in creating health records for undocumented individuals but allow the Department of Health to keep track of them and do the necessary follow-ups.
