UPCT 2024 gets off to a stylish start

Posted on March 13, 2024

As always, Enterprises University of Pretoria (Pty) Ltd (Enterprises UP) ensured great excitement among the new Honours students with a generous sponsorship of their University of Pretoria Campus Tour (UPCT) shirts.  This generous donation was made possible by the support of Dr Elmar de Wet, the Chief Executive Officer of Enterprises UP, his personal assistant, Mrs Samantha Moller, and the head of finance, Mrs Carla Kruger. The annual meeting between UPCT students and the abovementioned staff members have become an important tradition and highlight on the calendar thanks to Enterprises UP’s sponsorship of these customised shirts that are the stylish trademark UPCT guides’ uniform.

However, Enterprises UP do more than just sponsor UPCT’s stunning shirts. With the combined effort of UP and Enterprises UP, students in this programme are equipped with entrepreneurial and business skills and become well-rounded members of the global workforce as a result of continuous exposure to a professional work environment. They also enrol for the Ready for Work program developed and supported by Enterprises UP. UPCT has become an integral part of the University’s Heritage and Cultural Tourism Honours Programme over the past 21 years, thanks to the continuous efforts of Professor Karen Harris, the Head of the Department of Historical and Heritage Studies and founder of UPCT.

The students of the Heritage and Cultural Tourism Honours programme face an unprecedented challenge in achieving excellence and setting a new standard for tourist guiding on campus. This year marks the twenty-first anniversary of Professor Harris’ ground-breaking initiative, and given such a long history of continuous success, there will be absolutely no room for error on the students’ part while they are expected to reach new heights in the tour guiding domain.

At the hand-over event, Enterprises UP wished the UPCT team of 2024 every success in their endeavours.
