This project aims to develop a framework for the construction of the Global Volunteer Index. The framework will be an important first phase in measuring global volunteering. The Framework will contain background and conceptualisation, decisions taken and methodology including its variations, as well as practical steps for the construction of the Global Volunteer Index. The framework will be based on similar global initiatives, volunteer work indicators, data sources and expert input from index developers, investigators, researchers, and national and international volunteer work practitioners, stakeholders and policymakers.  It will be pretested in several countries to assess its validity and usability and provide context and gaps within the data collected in countries.
