Launch of the Humanities Writing Centre

Posted on April 01, 2015

The Humanities Writing Centre was officially launched on the 5th of February 2014 and aims to service both students and staff of the Faculty of Humanities. It is headed by Dr Avasha Rambiritch and her team of 8 writing consultants. The HWC aims to develop and improve students writing abilities by providing writing support to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Humanities in a positive and professional environment where students can engage in a focused dialogue with consultants about their academic writing.

The HWC is open to any undergraduate student registered in the Faculty of Humanities who may need assistance with a written assignment. Consultants will assist in structuring, writing, revising and editing academic texts. If a student has performed poorly on a written assignment, a subject lecturer may advise that the student attend a number of sessions.

In order to ensure that consultants are able to provide writing support to student in the faculty, the consultant attended a halfway training programme aimed at improving their consulting skills.
